The event was held on 20 June 2025, from 09:30 to 13:00 hrs., at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok. The dialogue was convened under the TCCA project, led by the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), in partnership with the British Embassy Bangkok, and generously supported by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B).

The event brought together 40 representatives from 17 organizations/companies comprising the TCCA Steering Committee.

The Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, and Dr. Wut Dankittikul, Executive Vice President of NSTDA, overseeing the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi), formed a delegation to the Kingdom of the Netherlands from June 9 – 14, 2025, to promote investment opportunities. The mission aimed to  promote foreign  direct investment (FDI) into Thailans’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and create opportunities for investment dialogues with the targeted  Dutch private sector companies. June 18, 2025 - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), through the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) to collaborate on R&D and technology transfer related to environmentally friendly bamboo-based construction materials. The signing took place at the “Thailand – China Symposium on Innovation and Sustainability: Technology and Innovation Transfer on Bamboo Processing and Its Application”, held as part of the Thailand Research Expo 2025.

Bangkok, Thailand — The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) of Thailand and France’s Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) have signed a renewed five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their commitment to advancing scientific research and education to address pressing environmental and sustainability challenges.

Signed today at Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the MoU (2025–2030) sets the stage for deeper collaboration in biodiversity research, carbon storage, and immersive environmental education—building on the success of joint programs initiated since 2017.

The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) attended the ASEAN BCG Network Meeting on June 14, 2025, in its crucial role as the ASEAN BCG Network Secretariat. This two-day event, co-hosted by Universitas Airlangga and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), aimed to accelerate the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy throughout the ASEAN region.

Bangkok, 16 June 2025 - The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG-2) at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, and several institutional partners, officially launched a large-scale genotype and phenotype database for cassava—one of the world’s most extensive databases of its kind. This achievement is the result of a collaborative Thai-German research project aimed at supporting cassava breeding, improving production efficiency, and contributing to long-term food security.

Bangkok, June 16, 2025 - Thailand’s leadership in the global cassava industry took center stage at the Global Cassava Sustainability Forum 2025, held today at Pullman Bangkok King Power. Co-hosted by King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the event gathered international experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to strengthen global networks in sustainable agri-business, using cassava as a model value chain. The forum is part of Thailand’s Reinventing University Initiative, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), which aims to enhance Thai universities’ global competitiveness and strengthen their role in national development.

On 2 – 4 June 2025, Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, and Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Leader of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Team, National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), represented ENTEC in attending the 32nd Renewable Energy – Sub Sector Network (RE-SSN) Meeting and Associated Meetings organized by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) of Malaysia, and the ASEAN Center of Energy (ACE), held in Penang, Malaysia. The participants included international, regional , and national stakeholders from governmental, international organizations, industry and academics, especially those involved in supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), Assoc. Prof. Pattarapong Makarawate, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Asst. Prof. Narin Chansri, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University (KKU), jointly signed an academic cooperation agreement on nanotechnology for medical and public health application. The aim is to build a collaborative research and development network in this field.

Yokohama, Japan – June 1, 2025 – Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation (MHESI), was honored to deliver the opening keynote at the 11th General Conference of the Asian Consortium on Computational Materials Science (ACCMS-11), held from 31 May to 3 June 2025, in Yokohama, Japan.

On May 29, 2025, Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, and Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Leader of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Team, National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), were invited as guest speakers for a lecture titled “Development of MRV for the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions of the Electric Vehicle Promotion Measures”, under the study to establish baseline data for and tracking Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reductions from energy efficiency measures. The event was organized by the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) and held in Rayong province.

Thursday, May 29, 2025 - Mahidol University, Salaya campus, the Faculty of Physical Therapy hosted a signing ceremony led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jarugool Tretriluxana, Dean together with Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Vice President, RDI Management, NSTDA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on research and development cooperation.

The MoU pertains to the Research, Development, and Promotion of Holistic Health Services in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy for People of All Ages. The signing ceremony aimed to promote collaboration in research, academic services, and health services through the development and enhancement of innovative tele-physical therapy and tele-occupational therapy services for the public.

Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and President of the Alliance of International Science Organizations in the Belt and Road Region (ANSO), delivered a keynote address at the international symposium titled “Sustainable Development and Inclusive Collaboration: The Responsibilities of the Scientific Community.” The event was held on 31 May 2025 in Beijing, People's Republic of China, as part of the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASAD), hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

21 May 2025 – The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), NSTDA hosted a delegation from the International Network of Korean Entrepreneurs (INKE) for a special visit aimed at foster-ing international collaboration and exploring advancements in nanotechnology.
On behalf of Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of NANOTEC, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Pongsit Rattanakonvit, Director of the Platform Technology Man-agement and Research Management Division, and Mr. Prisda Hiranaburna, Senior Consult-ant of the Alliance Development and Business Relation Division. The visiting group was led by Mr. Park Tae Keun, Director of KOVA Headquarters and Manager.

On May 23, 2025, at Auditorium CO-113, NSTDA, Thailand Science Park

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), in collaboration with the Thailand Excellence Center in Electric Vehicles (TECE), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), successfully launched the “Bhutan-Thailand Training on Energy Transition” for officials from Bhutan’s Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR). The opening ceremony was held on May 23, 2025, and the technical training and site visits will be conducted from May 27–30, 2025.

From 12 to14 May 2025, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA, led by Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, NSTDA President, together with senior executives including Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Vice President for R&D Management; Associate Professor Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC); and Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), undertook an official visit to Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) in Jülich, Federal Republic of Germany, at the invitation of the institute. FZJ is one of Germany’s premier research organizations under the Helmholtz Association.

On 11 May 2025, Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, NSTDA President, led a delegation of NSTDA executives including Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat, Executive Vice President for R&D Management; Associate Professor Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC); and Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), to pay a courtesy visit to Mr. Nattapong Lathapipat, Consul-General of Thailand in Frankfurt, Federal Republic of Germany. The visit took place on the occasion of NSTDA's mission to strengthen relations and foster collaboration with the Institute for Bio- and Geosciences (Plant Science), Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), and other leading research institutes in Germany.

International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) Thailand Office led a delegation of researchers from IRRI Headquarters, Philippines, to visit the agricultural biotechnology laboratories of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). Dr. Sithichoke Tangphatsornruang, Deputy Executive Director of BIOTEC, welcomed the delegation and provided a briefing on BIOTEC’s overview, modern infrastructure, research laboratories, and interesting research projects. May 2, 2025 - At Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani: The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, the Office for Local Administration Promotion in Pathum Thani, the Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, and the Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Foundation, signed a memorandum of understanding on the “Scaling Up Surplus Food Management Initiatives for Food Waste Reduction and Improved Food Security at the Community Level”.

On April 29, 2025, the National Energy Technology Center, led by Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, along with working group members Dr. Yuji Yoshimura, Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, Dr. Suparoek Henpraserttae and Dr. Arthit Champeecharoensuk, researchers in the group, welcomed and conducted a tour of the MTEC Pilot Plant for the production of premium-grade biodiesel (H-FAME) as a carbon-neutral fuel (B100) for internal combustion engines for the working group from Toyota Motor Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (TMA-TH) at the MP202 meeting room, MTEC Pilot Plant.

          The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), hosted a meeting focused on “Development of Digital Cooperation through the Ouranos Ecosystem” in collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The METI delegation was led by Mr. TATEISHI Hironori, Director of the Division of Digital Strategy and International Affairs, and Mr. SUZUKI Kakeru, Assistant Director and Digital Strategy Officer for the Digital Economy Division. MTEC’s team included Dr. Chanchana Thanachayanon, Director of Environment Research Group; Dr. Nudjarin Ramungul, Research Specialist, Environment Research Group; and Dr. Witchuda Daud, Researcher, Plastics Technology Research Team, Advanced Polymer Technology Research Group. Representatives from the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Trade of Thailand, and the Office of Industrial Economics also participated in the meeting.

The 2nd Thai Photovoltaic Science and Engineering Conference (Thai PVSEC-2) was organized by the PVSEC-36 Committee and the Thai Photovoltaic Industries Association (TPVA). The Solar Photovoltaic Technology Research Team (SPVT) from Energy Innovation Research Group, National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), served as one of the co-organizers of this academic conference. The event aimed to bring together comprehensive research on solar cells in Thailand, covering R&D, applications, and government support policies.

Dr Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), and Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, senior researcher participated in the Airbus Special Industry Outreach event, which brought together key stakeholders to explore the future of sustainable aviation in Thailand.

           The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), through the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), hosted a discussion meeting with representatives from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, Chulalongkorn University, and the Chulabhorn Research Institute. The meeting focused on defining collaborative strategies in research, managing water resources, and tackling the challenges posed by emerging pollutants in water sources, especially PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances). This initiative will facilitate the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic collaboration in hydrology to promote sustainable water resource management.

On 11 April 2025, the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), led by Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of NANOTEC, along with executives and researchers, welcomed representatives from L'Oréal (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The visit aimed to explore potential collaboration in research and development, with a particular focus on the utilization of Thai herbal extracts through advanced nanotechnology.

On April 2, 2025, representatives from Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) visited the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) for an institutional assessment related to the ongoing ShrimpGuard project. The visit was part of IDRC’s due diligence process, aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of how grantee institutions operate and ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement.

On April 11, 2025, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) hosted its first collaborative meeting with the Institute of Science Tokyo, a newly established institution formed through the merger of Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University in October 2024. The meeting brought together executive leaders from both organizations to explore strategic avenues for collaboration.

The two-year project entitled “Beta-Lactam Resistant Strain Replacement of Zoonotic Streptococcus suis in Slaughtered Pigs from Thailand: Global Risks to Food Security and Public Health”, led by Dr. Lucy A. Weinert, Principal Investigator from the University of Cambridge, UK, in partnership with Dr. Suganya Yongkiettrakul, Principal Researcher at BIOTEC, NSTDA, has been awarded £79,509.60 under the UK’s International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF).

The hybrid seminar "AI in the Digital Age: Balancing Innovation and Security" took place on March 28, 2025, drawing significant interest from industry leaders, policymakers, and academics. The event featured expert speakers from the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), Chulalongkorn University, and NSTDA, who shared valuable insights on AI governance, ethics, and its impact across various sectors.

Artificial Intelligence took the spotlight at the seminar titled “AI: A New Driving Force to Upgrade Technology to Smart Factories,” held on 27 March 2025 as part of NAC2025. Organized by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the event underscored AI’s transformative role in the industrial sector, particularly in advancing smart factory initiatives.

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) showcased its research highlights on AI in Energy at the NAC2025 exhibition, featuring key projects, including “Promoting the Application and Life Cycle Management of Electric Vehicle Development in Thailand.” This project focuses on developing public transportation systems using electric vehicles in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area, supported by the Global Environment Facility Round 7 (GEF 7).

On March 27, 2025, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the NSTDA Annual Conference 2025 (NAC2025) at Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani. Held from March 26 to 28, this year’s conference is organized under the theme "AI-Driven Science and Technology for a Sustainable Thailand," highlighting advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and its role in driving national progress across key sectors, including the economy, society, environment, and education.

At NAC2025 at Thailand Science Park in Pathum Thani, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), through the FoodSERP platform and the Thai Cosmetic Cluster (TCOS), highlighted a pilot collaboration between producers, distributors, and researchers in innovating Thai cosmetic products. This initiative focuses on adding value to biological resources, specifically Thai organic Jasmine rice (Rice Biome), by developing a process to produce functional compounds from rice using precision fermentation technology.

The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), through the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) in collaboration with the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the "Thailand Nanotechnology Research and Development Roadmap 2026–2030" project. This initiative aims to promote the advancement of Thailand's science, research, and innovation system (STI) and to establish a robust nanotechnology network. The roadmap focuses on four key areas: High-Value Medical and Healthcare Applications, Green Energy and Climate Change, Sustainable Agricultural and Food Production, and Nanosafety. The ultimate goal is to elevate research outcomes and translate scientific innovations into practical applications across all sectors.

Pathumma LLM is an advanced AI technology designed to understand Thai linguistic and cultural contexts. Developed by Dr. Sarawut Khongyang and his team at the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), under NSTDA, this innovation marks a significant milestone in Thailand’s AI development. Pathumma LLM features three core capabilities: Text LLM for Thai language processing, Vision LLM for image analysis, and Audio LLM for Thai speech recognition and response. Developed as an open-source technology, it fosters collaborative learning and innovation within Thailand’s AI ecosystem.

National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), participated in a plenary session preceding the 1st Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting under the SATREPS project on “Development of Utilization Technology of Rubber Seeds for Green Products to Mitigate Global Warming and Plastic Pollution” This initiative is a joint research collaboration between Thailand and Japan, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), for a period of five years (2024–2029).

On March 14, 2025, a delegation from ASEAN member states, Timor-Leste, and the Republic of Korea visited the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) at Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani Province. The purpose of this visit was to observe and exchange knowledge in science and technology. The delegation received a briefing on NSTDA's missions and achievements, and visited the National Center for Testing and Evaluation (NCTC) and the Electrical and Electronic Products Testing Center (PTEC), which play crucial roles in supporting the industrial sector with internationally standardized testing and analysis services. This visit served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration with ASEAN member states, Timor-Leste, and the Republic of Korea.

The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), part of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), held the opening ceremony to launch the “Premium H-FAME Biodiesel for Low-Carbon Transportation.” The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, along with Mr. Hironori Kawamura, Chief Representative of the Asian Representative Office at NEDO.

12 March 2025 – National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Industrial Nanomaterials (IINa), Kumamoto University, Japan. This collaboration aims to advance nanotechnology research, foster innovation, and promote global knowledge exchange.

On February 27, 2025, a delegation from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), led by Ms. Sayaka Umemura, Manager of the Space Environment Utilization Center, visited the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thailand Science Park. The purpose of the visit was to explore potential collaborations in future space-related projects.

On January 27, 2025, at UNISERV in Chiang Mai University, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), represented by the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chiang Mai University’s Multidisciplinary Research Institute (MDRI) and UNISERV. The signing ceremony signifies a collaborative effort to advance academic research on BioChar for innovations in carbon sequestration

On February 21, 2025, H.E. Mr. Patrick Hemmer, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Thailand, presided over the ceremony for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)on research and development collaboration in Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications, and Information Technologies. The event marked a partnership between the University of Luxembourg and the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), part of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).

On February 20-21, 2025, the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), led by Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of Low Carbon Energy Research Group, along with the working team consisting of Dr. Arthit Champeecharoensuk, and Dr. Tawan Champeecharoensuk, participated in the event on the 2nd Automotive Electrical and Electronic ASEAN Summit at Grand Ballroom 4th Floor, Hilton Bangkok Grande Asoke Hotel, Bangkok. The event was organized by Eventecs.

Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group at the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC-NSTDA), participated in the “BCGeTEC Symposium on Sustainable Aviation Fuel.” The event was organized by the Bio-Circular-Green-economy Technology & Engineering Center, Department of Chemical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University.

The ICT Project for Lifelong Learning for Marginalized Communities under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, led by Dr. Aswin Hongsingthong, along with the ENTEC team and expert engineers from the Solar Photovoltaic Research Team, conducted training and activities at the Border Patrol Police Learning Center, Ban Huaymaoh School in Sam Laep, Sop Moei, and Ban Mae Loe School in Sao Hin, Mae Sariang, both in Mae Hong Son Province.

The MYCOBIOMICS project, led by Prof. Marc Stadler (Helmholtz Center for Infection Research, Germany) in collaboration with BIOTEC’s Dr. Jennifer Luangsa-ard (Plant Microbe Interaction Research Team), NSTDA and research institutes across Europe and Africa, has been successfully funded under the EU’s H2020-MSCA-RISE program with a grant of EUR 1,375,400 (THB 51,035,377).

Thailand Science Park – February 7, 2025 – Professor Yong-Hyun Kim from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), together with Prof. Dr. Sirichok Jungthawan from Suranaree University of Technology, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Adisak Boonchun from Kasetsart University, visited the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to discuss possible collaboration.  Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, welcomed the delegation.

Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA participated in a significant milestone in Thailand-UK climate cooperation, marked by the launch of the “Thailand-UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT)” program. The event attracted over 100 participants from a diverse range of organizations, including international organizations, independent bodies, government agencies, private sector entities, academia, research institutes, and the media. 

(Feb. 5, 2025) The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has selected BIOTEC as the host organization for the Thailand-U.S. Agricultural and Trade Mission, led by Mr. Patrick Packnett, Associate Administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), USDA, Washington, D.C. The delegation includes representatives from the USDA offices in Washington, D.C., and Thailand, the U.S. Department of State, and the Department of Agriculture of Thailand, totaling 40 participants. The mission aims to discuss agricultural cooperation, particularly in genome editing technology in plants, and to visit laboratory facilities.

The Thailand Standard Swappable Battery Consortium for Small e-Mobility, known as “Thailand Battswap” had the honor of receiving the opening address from Associate Professor Dr. Nopbhorn Leeprechanon, Acting Vice President of the Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), to promote the initiative. The Thailand Battswap consortium is administered by Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul, Director of the Energy Innovation Research Group, ENTEC, who also serves as the consortium’s President. Thailand Battswap initiative receives support through the electric vehicle innovation and related technologies promotion program of the National Innovation Agency (NIA), represented by Mr. Apivathan Tavornkaew, Innovation Developer at NIA (Public Organization).

The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) presented a grant of 3 million baht to support the third year of the ICT for Lifelong Learning Project for Marginalized Communities under the Royal Initiative of the Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Professor Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, Director and Secretary-General of the Information Technology Foundation under the Royal Initiative, and Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC).

A high-level delegation from the Philippines, led by Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Secretary General of Department of Science and Technology (DOST), visited the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Thailand on January 23, 2025. The visit aimed to exploring potential collaborations in research and development between the two countries.

The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) recently embarked on an official visit to leading Japanese research organizations, aimed at reconnecting and strengthening its longstanding collaborations with four prominent institutions. The visit, held from January 20–22, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan, focused on further enhancing partnerships with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

Bangkok, Thailand – The ASEAN Regional Research Infrastructure (RRI) strategy, a result of extensive collaboration among ASEAN Member States, has been finalized. This ambitious plan, developed through a series of workshops since May 2024, outlines a roadmap for enhancing research capabilities and addressing disparities across the region.

On January 15, 2025, Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of MTEC, NSTDA, participated as a panelist at the Japan-Thailand Public Private Automotive Business Forum for Energy and Industry Dialogue. He addressed the topic of “Circular Economy and Ecosystem” alongside other distinguished panelists, including Mr. Furukawa Kazunari, Senior Vice President of the Carbon Neutral Strategy Division at Isuzu Motors Co., Ltd., and Mrs. Buppa Kawinvasin, Deputy Governor (Sustainable Development) and representative of the Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand. The forum, attended by over 800 participants onsite and online, was jointly organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO Bangkok), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Board of Investment (BOI), and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnership (AOTS).

This event was jointly organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO Bangkok), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Board of Investment (BOI), and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnership (AOTS).

On 13 January 2025, Dr. Chung Fan Lee, Vice President of Quark Biosciences, Taiwan, visited the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), a member of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). She was welcomed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaowaree Adthalungrong, BIOTEC Executive Director, Dr. Kobkul Loateng, Acting Deputy Executive Director, and relevant researchers.

On January 14, 2025, at the 10th floor meeting room of the Techosen Building, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), Phnom Penh, Cambodia,

Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), along with Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of the Low Carbon Energy Research Group, attended the final workshop of Toyota Foundation Project at Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI). The workshop aimed to exchange knowledge on “Mutual Learning of Science, Technology, and Innovation Coordination to Bridge Different Countries and Sectors”, within the framework of the Cambodia, Thailand, and Japan Cooperation Program for Capacity Development and Policy Recommendations, which is supported by the Toyota Foundation of Japan.

Dr. Pratsaneeyaporn Posiri, a researcher at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), NSTDA has been awarded a £100,000 grant under the IVVN (International Veterinary Vaccinology Network) Pump Priming program. The granted project, “Baci-VAC, a novel RNAi vaccine from a non-pathogenic Bacillus subtilis cell expressing dsRNA-EHP to protect microsporidian infection in shrimp” aims to tackle a critical challenge in shrimp farming—disease caused by the microsporidian parasite Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP).
