Thailand CCUS Alliance (TCCA), in collaboration with the British Embassy Bangkok, organized the “Thailand–UK Strategic Dialogue on Advancing CCUS Collaboration”, a platform for discussion and knowledge exchange on key issues related to CCUS technologies.
The event was held on 20 June 2025, from 09:30 to 13:00 hrs., at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok. The dialogue was convened under the TCCA project, led by the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), in partnership with the British Embassy Bangkok, and generously supported by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B).

Thailand and Germany Launch One of the World’s Largest Cassava Genotype-Phenotype Databases to Drive Sustainable Crop Improvement
Bangkok, 16 June 2025 - The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG-2) at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, and several institutional partners, officially launched a large-scale genotype and phenotype database for cassava—one of the world’s most extensive databases of its kind. This achievement is the result of a collaborative Thai-German research project aimed at supporting cassava breeding, improving production efficiency, and contributing to long-term food security.

The participants included international, regional , and national stakeholders from governmental, international organizations, industry and academics, especially those involved in supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency.

ENTEC, led by Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director, along with research team members Dr. Amornrat Limmanee, Solar Photovoltaic Research Team Leader, and Dr. Visarn Lilavivat, Researcher from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Research Team, welcomed Budget Bureau officials for a comprehensive laboratory tour of ENTEC’s solar cell and hydrogen innovation facilities located at the NECTEC and MTEC Pilot Plants in Thailand Science Park.
ENTEC/NSTDA Receives 3 Million Baht Grant from PEA to support The ICT for Lifelong Learning Project for Marginalized Communities

The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) presented a grant of 3 million baht to support the third year of the ICT for Lifelong Learning Project for Marginalized Communities under the Royal Initiative of the Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Professor Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, Director and Secretary-General of the Information Technology Foundation under the Royal Initiative, and Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC).
Thailand and the Philippines Strengthen Scientific Ties
A high-level delegation from the Philippines, led by Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Secretary General of Department of Science and Technology (DOST), visited the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Thailand on January 23, 2025. The visit aimed to exploring potential collaborations in research and development between the two countries.
NSTDA Strengthens Research Collaboration with Japanese Organizations through Collaborative Meeting and Study Visit
The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) recently embarked on an official visit to leading Japanese research organizations, aimed at reconnecting and strengthening its longstanding collaborations with four prominent institutions. The visit, held from January 20–22, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan, focused on further enhancing partnerships with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
ASEAN RRI Taskforce Finalizes Strategy
Bangkok, Thailand – The ASEAN Regional Research Infrastructure (RRI) strategy, a result of extensive collaboration among ASEAN Member States, has been finalized. This ambitious plan, developed through a series of workshops since May 2024, outlines a roadmap for enhancing research capabilities and addressing disparities across the region.
MTEC’s Executive Director Participates in the “Japan Thailand Public-Private Automotive Business Forum for Energy and Industry Dialogue”
On January 15, 2025, Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of MTEC, NSTDA, participated as a panelist at the Japan-Thailand Public Private Automotive Business Forum for Energy and Industry Dialogue. He addressed the topic of “Circular Economy and Ecosystem” alongside other distinguished panelists, including Mr. Furukawa Kazunari, Senior Vice President of the Carbon Neutral Strategy Division at Isuzu Motors Co., Ltd., and Mrs. Buppa Kawinvasin, Deputy Governor (Sustainable Development) and representative of the Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand. The forum, attended by over 800 participants onsite and online, was jointly organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO Bangkok), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Board of Investment (BOI), and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnership (AOTS).

On January 20, 2025, the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), led by Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, Director of Low Carbon Energy Research Group, along with the working team consisting of Dr. Peerawat Saisirirat, and Dr. Tawan Champeecharoensuk, participated in workshop on the Study to Establish Baseline Data and Assess (Track) Greenhouse Gas Reduction from Vehicle Energy Efficiency Improvement Measures at Siam Hall Room, 6th Floor, Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok.

The workshop aimed to exchange knowledge on “Mutual Learning of Science, Technology, and Innovation Coordination to Bridge Different Countries and Sectors”, within the framework of the Cambodia, Thailand, and Japan Cooperation Program for Capacity Development and Policy Recommendations, which is supported by the Toyota Foundation of Japan.

BIOTEC Researcher, NSTDA Awarded the IVVN Pump Priming Grant for Innovative EHP Protection in Shrimp
Dr. Pratsaneeyaporn Posiri, a researcher at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), NSTDA has been awarded a £100,000 grant under the IVVN (International Veterinary Vaccinology Network) Pump Priming program. The granted project, “Baci-VAC, a novel RNAi vaccine from a non-pathogenic Bacillus subtilis cell expressing dsRNA-EHP to protect microsporidian infection in shrimp” aims to tackle a critical challenge in shrimp farming—disease caused by the microsporidian parasite Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP).
