Kyoto, Japan – October 4, 2025 – The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, and                 Dr. Chai Wutiwiwatchai, Executive Director of the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), participated in the 14th Global Summit of Research Institute Leaders (RIL 2025) held in Kyoto, Japan. The summit brought together research leaders from 16 countries to define global scientific directions under the theme “Building Confidence in Science through Collaboration.”

Prof. Dr. Sukit emphasized that in an era where artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation are rapidly transforming science, public confidence faces increasing challenges from exaggerated claims and lack of transparency. NSTDA is therefore committed to promoting ethics and credibility in research while sharing knowledge for the benefit of society—particularly as AI becomes deeply integrated into every aspect of life.

During the summit, NSTDA proposed three key strategies: establishing international standards for research citation and validation; creating collaborative networks for independent verification of scientific credibility; and developing researchers and science communicators by leveraging AI capabilities alongside transparent governance.

Participants reaffirmed the importance of scientific integrity and public trust—especially in AI-related research—while supporting knowledge sharing and the establishment of cooperative frameworks to address global challenges. The discussions underscored the need for open dialogue and community participation to promote sustainable development.

Hosted by RIKEN and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), RIL 2025 was held one day before the annual STS Forum, reaffirming NSTDA’s active role in driving sustainable science and technology, and addressing humanity’s challenges with ethics and transparency.
