The Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, and Dr. Wut Dankittikul, Executive Vice President of NSTDA, overseeing the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi), formed a delegation to the Kingdom of the Netherlands from June 9 – 14, 2025, to promote investment opportunities. The mission aimed to promote foreign direct investment (FDI) into Thailans’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and create opportunities for investment dialogues with the targeted Dutch private sector companies. The mission consisted of three main activities:
Business Meetings with Key Stakeholders in the Netherlands The delegation held discussions with key public and private sector stakeholders to promote investment and co-develop an ecosystem in the EEC in areas such as smart agriculture, food industry, and bio-based economy. Targeted Dutch companies included:
- Smart Agricultural Solution: Rijk Zwaan, Priva, Van Der Hoeven, Koppert Biologicals Systems
- Food Ecosystem/Food Valley: FoodX, Hydrosat, Starlife, Unilever Foods Innovation Centre, Thai Union Innovation Hub
- Biorefinery, Bioplastic, Biochemical: Avantium and Corbion Manufacturing Facility
- Green Technology/Recycle: Oryx Stainless Holding B.V.
Invest NL, a Dutch government-established company dedicated to financing innovation and impact-driven project in clean energy, and advanced technologies. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Thai researchers and scholarship students supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) at Wageningen University – a globally renowned institute in agriculture, biology, and biotechnology.
Participation in GreenTech Global / Amsterdam 2025 The delegation participated in the GreenTech Global / Amsterdam 2025 exhibition, held from June 10–12, 2025, at RAI Amsterdam. They engaged with Dutch investors and companies in smart farming, food technology, and biochemicals through one-on-one business matching meeting with companies such as Protix, Invest International, and TDD-international (Geothermal sector). Greentech is a premier platform for horticulture technology professionals to network, share knowledge and explore business opportunities, with a focus on cutting-egde products and innovator.
Thailand-Netherlands Business Seminar in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy and NTCC On June 13, 2025, a business seminar titled “Thailand Meets Netherlands – Forging Stronger Business Partnership on Bio-Circular-Green Economy in the Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand.” was co-hosted by the royal Thai Embassy in The Hague and The Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce(NTCC) at the nhow Amsterdam RAI hotel.
Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of NSTDA, delivered a keynote speech on “EECi: Biotechnology and Innovation Ecosystem in EEC, Thailand”. emphasizing the country’s effort In building an efficient to scale up research and adept foreign technologies to the Thai context. EECi, operated by NSTDA and located in Wang Chan Valley, Rayong Province, is a national innovation hub designed to support pilot-scale research and commercialization in sectors such as modern agriculture, bioprocessing technology, advanced batteries, smart mobility, aviation, automation, robotics, and intelligent electronics. Other distinguished speakers included representatives from OEPC, IEAT, Oryx Stainless Holding B.V., Thai Union, Priva SE Asia, and East-West Seed
The seminar was officially opened by H.E. Mr. Asi Mamanee, Ambassador of Thailand to the Netherlands, and concluded with remarks by Mr. Hans van den Born, Executive Director of NTCC, and Mrs. Premrudee Lotharakpong, Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy. A Business Networking Reception followed the seminar, allowing participants to exchange insights, explore collaboration, and build business connections.
