Under NTSDA’s current strategic plan (2019-2023), five new facilities were launched as national science and technology infrastructure:
National Biobank of Thailand serves as an infrastructure for preserving biological resources which include plants, seeds and microorganisms for use in research. Designed to link with Digital Biobank which comprises digital cell bank, digital seed bank, digital gene bank and human genome database, the National Biobank will facilitate scientists to harness the power of bioresources to further the development of bioeconomy and discover solutions for global challenges.
National Omics Center is a central facility fully equipped with cutting-edge genomic, proteomics, transcriptomic and metabolomics tools that enable biologists to generate and process omics data to support a better understanding of biological systems and eventually the development of successful innovations. The center also provides supportive services for companies and academia with state-of-the-art facility and competent research team.
Center for Cyber-Physical Systems is a fully-equipped lab and testbed facility staffed with specialists to develop innovations in cyber-physical systems (CPS) and internet of things (IoT). The center also caters consultancy services and technology transfer as well as provides support in human resource development in CPS and IoT to serve a growing demand from Thai industry to transform to smart factory.
NSTDA Supercomputer Center performs frontier research in computational science, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) as well as provides high performance computing service to researchers in Thailand to perform computational science research on challenges of national interest. With an advancement in science, large amount of data has been created and the center aims to equip researchers and professionals with tools to harness the power of big data.
Technology and Informatics Institute for Sustainability serves as a central body to house the National Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Database as well as to develop data management system and LCA tools in accordance with the international standards. As LCA is widely used across the industry to provide manufacturers and consumers with valuable information on environmental impacts associated with all the stages of a product's life, this center will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing Thailand’s industry competitiveness.
