On July 29, 2025, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) hosted a high-level delegation from Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., Japan, and Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) for a collaborative meeting and facility visit at Thailand Science Park. The visit aimed to explore potential partnerships in key strategic areas, including health and life sciences, mobility, and information and communication technology (ICT).
The meeting opened with a welcome address and presentations by Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), representing NSTDA. Prof. Sompong Klaynongsruang, President of TSRI, and Dr. Omote Toshihiko, Managing Executive Officer, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), New Incubation Center at Mitsui Chemicals, also participated in the discussions, which highlighted each organization’s strategic priorities and opportunities for collaboration.
NSTDA extended an invitation for Mitsui Chemicals to consider establishing a presence at Thailand Science Park. Joining the park’s dynamic innovation ecosystem would enable Mitsui Chemicals to leverage NSTDA’s advanced research infrastructure, expert scientists, and extensive public-private networks. The park also offers comprehensive support services, including access to shared research equipment, collaborative and contract research opportunities, and partnerships with industrial and academic institutions. Additionally, NSTDA’s Talent Mobility Program facilitates the placement of researchers within companies to drive innovation and accelerate technology transfer.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of NSTDA’s key research and pilot-scale facilities, including NANOTEC’s Advanced Composite and Nanotextiles Laboratory, NECTEC’s Center for Cyber-Physical Systems, and Thailand Science Park’s tenant R&D centers. These visits provided the Mitsui Chemicals delegation with firsthand insights into NSTDA’s infrastructure and its pivotal role in advancing industrial R&D.
This engagement underscores NSTDA’s continued commitment to fostering international partnerships and reinforcing Thailand’s position as a regional leader in science, technology, and innovation.
