Tuberculosis (TB) is a significant health problem all over the world. Southeast Asia (SEA) is a hotspot of TB, having more than a million new cases per year. SEA is also home of diverse groups of people, speaking thousands of languages belonging to more than five language families. With the advance of DNA sequencing technology, the vast diversity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) in SEA has also been appreciated. This online meeting aims to provide the update of recent findings on the genomic and molecular epidemiology of TB in SEA, presented by leading scientists in various countries. The information is hoped to provide insights on the population structure and the transmission dynamics of MTB as well as to suggest for further research, development and control of TB in the region.
