Training on
Irrigation and Fertigation

April 30 –May 4, 2012
Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus (KPS), Nakhon Pathom

Executive Summary:
Water and Plant nutritions are the most essential factors for the maximum yield and quality of agricultural produces. With the situation of limited and scarce water resource in Thailand and the demand for water risen every year, the efficient Irrigation became substantial with time progressed. In the meantime, fertilizer use in Thailand has increased considerably due to the nutrition deficiency in overall land and marked a high expense for the farmers. With that Fertigation technique (fertilizer + irrigation = fertilizer thru irrigation system) is “a must” method to accompany with irrigation system to render a competent solution for smart agriculture. The Irrigation & Fertigation is then a crucial knowledge for involved scientist and forward-looking agriculturists.

The National Science & Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Kasetsart University (KU) has realized the importance of Irrigation & Fertigation plus the needs of personnel in educational, research and private sectors. Israel, as the amicable alliance of NSTDA and the number 1 in such knowledge. The 3 parties has agreed to organize the Irrigation & Fertigation Training in Kasetsart, Kampaengsaen Campus, Nakorn Pathom Province during April 30 – May 4, 2012.

The course is led by 2 distinct scientists from Israel (Dr. Naftali Lazarovitch, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Dr. Uri Yermiyahu, Agricultural Research Organization) and joined by excellent researchers from Kasetsart University (Asst. Prof. Thammasak Thongket and Assoc. Prof. Pongsak Choltanasawdhi). The event is open for involved and interested persons in academic, research and private sectors to join (with limitation in number of participants).

Aims of the Training:
1) To enable the Thai participants to explore the fundamental and updated substance of the technology from the latest research findings and advanced practice from Israeli and Thai experts. The event will give the floor for the participants to exchange their experiences amongst themselves and the trainers.
2) To learn the efficient methodologies in Irrigation and Fertigation, best practice and progressive know-how in order to elevate Thailand’s agricultural produce quality and research strength.
