Xiamen, Fujian Province, People’s Republic of China, 28 May 2026 — Professor Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), together with NSTDA executives, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Sasarak Sasivanij, Consul-General of Thailand in Xiamen, Fujian Province, People’s Republic of China, to exchange views and explore opportunities to further enhance cooperation in research, development, and innovation between Thailand and China, particularly with southeastern China.

The meeting served as an important platform for discussing developments in the rapidly evolving global geopolitical and economic landscape, particularly China’s growing prominence as a world leader in technology and industry. The discussion also reflected on how countries across southeast Asia and other strategic partners are accelerating engagement with China to strengthen competitiveness and unlock new opportunities for growth.
Professor Dr. Sukit remarked that the visit offered valuable insights into China’s remarkable advancement across many dimensions, especially the integration of technology, automation, and robotics into everyday life and education from an early age. He emphasized that this is a significant moment for Thailand to define its strategic positioning more clearly, deepen collaboration with key partners, and foster greater opportunities for advanced technology transfer to support the development of Thai industry and the national innovation ecosystem.

NSTDA executives also shared observations on the successful development model of Fujian Province, including the effective application of information technology to urban safety management, as well as initiatives that promote positive social behavior and inspire young people to engage with science through media and creative innovation. These experiences offer valuable lessons that could be adapted to further strengthen Thailand’s human capital and long-term innovation capabilities.
Both sides expressed a shared commitment to advancing more concrete forms of collaboration that can contribute to sustainable innovation-led growth and help strengthen Thailand’s grassroots economy amid today’s global challenges.
H.E. Ms. Sasarak Sasivanij reaffirmed the role of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Xiamen as an important bridge for bilateral cooperation and expressed its readiness to fully support NSTDA and Thai research organizations in connecting with networks of partners and leading research institutions in China. She also highlighted the importance of understanding Chinese working culture and diplomatic practice, which place strong emphasis on trust-building, close relationships, and long-term cooperation in pursuit of mutually beneficial outcomes for both countries.
