May 22, 2026 — Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), alongside the executive team from the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) warmly welcomed Dr. FAN Yingjie, Director of the Bureau of International Cooperation at the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

The delegation also included representatives from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, led by Mr. MA MingGeng, Counsellor for Science and Technology.
Held at Thailand Science Park, the meeting aimed to discuss future collaborations, particularly focusing on the funding mechanisms in which NSFC has extensive expertise, as well as to exchange operational insights between the two organizations.

In addition to the bilateral discussions, the executives from NSFC and the Chinese Embassy toured BIOTEC’s state-of-the-art technologies and national core infrastructures. They also visited an exhibition showcasing outstanding research projects, including the Thailand Bioresource Research Center (TBRC) under the Thailand-China Joint Laboratory on Microbial Biotechnology, biorefinery research in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and the FlavorSERP project's cutting-edge flavor prediction platform. Other highlights featured the National Biobank of Thailand (NBT) and its partnership with the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), vaccine and biologics research focusing on African Swine Fever (ASF), initiatives for a sustainable cassava value chain, and mycology research and utilization.
This collaboration between NSTDA and NSFC marks a significant milestone in strengthening science and technology ties between Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Moving forward, both nations aim to jointly drive innovation and address regional challenges toward a sustainable future.
