SINGAPORE — Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand attended the opening ceremony of the Global Young Scientists Summit 2026 (GYSS 2026) on January 6th, held at the National University of Singapore. Her presence underscores Thailand’s long-standing commitment to fostering international scientific collaboration and empowering youth in STEM fields.

Now in its 14th year, the GYSS is organized by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore. It serves as a prestigious global platform where young researchers can engage directly with the world’s most distinguished scientific minds.

The 2026 summit features an elite roster of 22 world-class speakers, including:

  • Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Physics, and Physiology or Medicine.
  • Turing Award winners (the "Nobel Prize of Computing").
  • Millennium Technology Prize and Fields Medal recipients.
  • Winners of the Stockholm Water Prize and the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.

The summit's curriculum is designed to be highly interactive, featuring plenary lectures, small-group "masterclasses," and networking sessions aimed at solving complex global challenges through interdisciplinary innovation.

For 2026, Her Royal Highness personally selected 20 exceptional young scientists from Thailand to participate in the summit. This continues a tradition that has seen 135 Thai researchers attend the GYSS over the past 14 years.

The GYSS 2026 (held from January 5–9) highlights the importance of mentorship in the scientific community. By connecting young Thai researchers with global laureates, Thailand aims to integrate its domestic talent into the international scientific ecosystem, ensuring the country remains at the forefront of technological and medical advancement.
