The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), through the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), highlighted Thailand’s research and innovation capabilities in support of the country’s clean energy transition at ASIA Sustainable Energy Week 2026 (ASEW 2026), held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from 1–3 July 2026.

ENTEC Executives Director, Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat and Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Nuwong Chollacoop, together with researchers joined a series of technical forums as speakers, moderators and co-organisers, sharing research perspectives on sustainable fuels, hydrogen, energy storage, electric-vehicle batteries, solar-energy technologies and future workforce development. Their participation reflected NSTDA’s role in connecting scientific research with practical applications, industrial needs and national energy policy.
At the S.E.A. Sustainable Fuels Summit, ENTEC presented research directions for sustainable aviation and maritime fuels, including the use of waste and renewable resources as alternative feedstocks. The discussions also emphasised the importance of collaboration among research institutions, government agencies, industry and international partners in developing technologies that can reduce carbon emissions and strengthen Thailand’s position in the regional sustainable-fuel sector.
ENTEC researchers also contributed to discussions on hydrogen technology, infrastructure and market development, as well as the safety, reuse and recycling of lithium-ion batteries. These research areas are increasingly important as Thailand expands renewable energy deployment and electric vehicle use, creating greater demand for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible energy storage systems.

At Energy Storage Asia 2026, ENTEC underscored the role of energy-storage technologies in improving grid stability, supporting renewable-energy integration and strengthening national energy security. The Centre also shared expertise in solar energy measurement, testing and performance standards, which are essential for ensuring technology quality and building confidence among investors, manufacturers and users.
In addition, ENTEC supported the Energy Transition Workforce Skills Program, which focused on developing knowledge and technical skills for emerging energy technologies, including hydrogen, clean heat and small modular reactors.
Through its participation in ASEW 2026, ENTEC-NSTDA demonstrated how research, testing, standards, technology development and cross-sector collaboration can work together to accelerate Thailand’s transition towards carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions.
