The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), through the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), joined forces with nine leading Thai organizations to sign a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership officially adopts the ASEAN AI Transition Innovation Framework (AITIF) to accelerate AI integration across Thai industries with an emphasis on ethics, sustainability, and international standards.

The initiative is a collaborative effort led by NECTEC (NSTDA) alongside the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE). It brings together a powerful alliance of public and private sector giants, including the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), and major corporations such as SCG and Kasikorn Labs.

While AI adoption in Thailand is surging—with 90% of youth and 80% of educators already engaging with AI tools—the country faces critical hurdles in AI literacy, cybersecurity, and ethical governance. The AITIF serves as Thailand’s strategic roadmap to bridge these gaps through three core pillars:

  • AI Literacy Framework: Establishing a national baseline for responsible and ethical AI usage.
  • AI Skill Taxonomies: Defining the specific professional skill sets required to future-proof the Thai workforce.
  • AI Readiness Assessment Tool: Empowering organizations to systematically evaluate and improve their digital maturity.

A central goal of this NSTDA-led collaboration is to shift Thailand’s status from a mere technology consumer to a global AI innovator. By leveraging Thailand’s national AI infrastructure—specifically the ThaiSC supercomputer—the partnership supports advanced research and standardized testing. This infrastructure ensures that locally developed AI solutions are secure, trustworthy, and commercially viable.

The framework promotes a "Hybrid AI" approach, blending data-driven insights with human expertise to ensure inclusivity and fairness. By aligning with the ASEAN AI framework, NSTDA and its partners are synchronizing Thailand’s digital infrastructure and human resources with regional standards.

This unified effort fosters a robust network for knowledge sharing, ultimately securing Thailand’s position as a regional leader in the sustainable AI economy.
