NSTDA hosted a Sustainability in Food Industry seminar on 22 February 2023. The seminar aimed at building capacity of Thai food industry to navigate new trends and challenges impacted by the pandemic.

In his opening remarks, NSTDA Vice President Dr. Adisorn Tuantranont stated that food sector is expected to experience continuous growth as international trade, domestic consumption and tourism starts to resume after the pandemic. According to the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thailand’s food export in 2023 is estimated to value around 1.5-1.53 trillion THB with a 2% growth. NSTDA Food Acceleration Program was conceived to enable new entrepreneurs to develop, launch and sustain food innovation and innovative food products through a networking platform that provides access to collaboration and expertise in technology, finance and marketing. The program supports food and food-related businesses to employ advanced technology and innovation to create value addition, thereby increasing their economic profitability and business expansion. NSTDA Food Acceleration Program offers the following assistance through various departments under the auspices of NSTDA:

  • Finance: NSTDA Investment Center, NASTDA Holding
  • IP Commercialization: Technology Licensing Office (TLO)
  • Infrastructure: Thailand Science Park , Software Park Thailand
  • Food Industry: Food Innopolis
  • Human Resource Development: Career for the Future Academy

The seminar program included presentations and panel talks on the interesting topics such as Deep Tech Trends Shaping the Future of Food Industry, The Way of Sustainability in Food Products, FoodSERP: New Engine for Food Sustainability and Sustainability in Food Industry. Leading scientists, program directors and successful entrepreneurs giving talks and sharing their experience at the event were BIOTEC Executive Director Dr. Wonnop Visessanguan, BIOTEC Senior Researcher Dr. Kobkul Laoteng, NSTDA Business Innovation Center Director Ms. Sansanee Huabsomboon, Nutrition SC CEO Dr. Phat Ekkapanyasakul, Green Innovative Biotechnology Dr. Karsidete Teeranitayatarn, and Benswell Corporation Margeting Director Ms. Duanpen Tarathitikun.
