The NECTEC Annual Conference and Exhibitions 2023 (NECTEC–ACE 2023) took place on 12 September 2023. Held under the concept of "Data for Thai, Data for All", the event was organized by NECTEC-NSTDA in collaboration with 19 public and private organizations, including the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization), the Office of the Personal Data Protection Commission, the Government Big Data Institute, Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited, and Amazon Web Services (Thailand) Company Limited.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Wanchai Panomchai, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Industry Ministry, emphasized that digital technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, and the world has transitioned into a data-driven era. In the public sector, the pivotal role of data has been recognized, leading to the implementation of open government data initiatives. The efforts include the enactment of the Electronic Government Service Act and the use of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to generate valuable insights. Government can harness big data management and analytics to facilitate decision-making processes and improve their performance. Moreover, data sharing across the government and private sectors can bring significant benefits to society as a whole, and ensuring the privacy and security of data sharing is of utmost importance in the design and management of a data sharing platform.

NSTDA President Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong remarked that in addition to showcasing new discoveries and innovations, NECTEC-ACE 2023 also highlights NSTDA Core Business, a new initiative aimed at translating NSTDA's research into practical solutions for the nation's pressing problems, thereby enabling research to have socio-economic impacts. NSTDA Core Business currently focuses on four innovations: Traffy Fondue, Digital Healthcare Platform, FoodSERP and Thailand i4.0 Platform. Traffy Fondue is a citizen engagement and empowerment platform that can enhance efficiency of public services, while the Digital Healthcare Platform offers innovative solutions to the public health service system. FoodSERP is designed as a one-stop service platform for food & functional ingredients, serving enterprise clients in the health food and cosmeceutical industry. Thailand i4.0 Platform provides comprehensive digital transformation services to increase the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. In addition, the recent launch of LANTA, the most powerful supercomputer system in ASEAN, will leverage the vast array of AI research in the public and private domains.

NECTEC Executive Director Dr. Chai Wuttivivatchai revealed that the NECTEC–ACE 2023 continued to receive strong support and collaboration from both government and private entities. More than 2,000 participants have registered for the event that promises a gathering of digital experts, numerous cutting-edge digital innovation presentations, and a platform for exchanging new ideas. The conference features 12 seminar tracks with over 50 speakers presenting advancements in data platforms, data governance & security, and big data & AI. Thirty exhibition booths showcase data solutions and core technologies of NECTEC and its partners. Successful big data projects are also presented, including Open-D, TPMAP, and a dashboard providing students’ health status and school lunch information by integrating data from Thai School Lunch and KidDiary. Open-D is a platform designed to support open government and make government data easily accessible. It provides reliable data from government agencies, such as geographical data, weather data, transportation data, and election data. Open data supports and promotes innovation and creativity in the government and business sectors, as well as create a transparent government. TPMAP, or Thai People Map and Analytics Platform, is a big data platform containing data on Thai population designed for planning public and welfare services policies, particularly poverty alleviation.
