NSTDA President Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul and Dr. Kazuhiro KIMURA, Director of Research Center for Structural Materials, National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) recently participated in a virtual signing ceremony of an MOU to co-develop cardiovascular stents. NIMS and NSTDA have long been strategic partners in the materials science research and this new collaboration will provide a platform to combine device design with specific material properties to make medical devices more suitable for their applications.

Representing NSTDA in executing the research collaboration is the Assistive Technology and Medical Device Research Center or A-MED, one of NSTDA focus centers with a mission to develop high quality medical devices for sustainable development of medical device industry and enhanced access to quality healthcare for Thai people. This project will focus on designing cardiovascular stents with high fatigue resistant Co-Cr-Mo-Ni alloy (CCMN), the success of which will have an immense impact to the healthcare industry.
