At a joint press conference held by NSTDA and the Krabi provincial administration on 8 July 2020, Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NSTDA President presented four innovations to Pol. Lt. Col. M.L. Kitibadee Prawit, Governor of Krabi province, to support “Krabi We Care” campaign to launch new normal tourism of this famous coastal city. The four innovations are BENZION disinfectant product, KAO SA-ARD shoe sole cleaning and disinfection machine, QueQ mobile application and Traffy Fondue system.
- BENZION is a disinfectant product co-developed by NANOTEC-NSTDA and Unisil Group Company Limited. BENZION offers high-level disinfection by eliminating viruses and bacteria, without damaging the environment. The product is effective against COVID-19 and can be used to sterilize surfaces as well as sanitize hands and feet.
- KAO SA-ARD is a shoe sole cleaning and disinfection machine invented by the Design & Engineering Consulting Service Center (DECC), a unit of NSTDA. KAO SA-ARD allows users to have their show soles cleaned and disinfected without having to remove their shoes by stepping into a basin which will automatically be filled with disinfectant to an optimal level. The machine can help prevent the spreading of the virus via shoes.
- QueQ is a mobile application developed by Queue Q (Thailand) Company Limited. Queue Q (Thailand) participated in NSTDA’s business incubation program and was a recipient of NSTDA’s Startup Voucher program. QueQ is a queuing system that allows users to simply book their queue to enter an outlet via mobile application. QueQ can be applied to manage number of visitors to tourist sites such as beaches as well as tourist facilities such as marinas.
- Developed by NECTEC-NSTDA, Traffy Fondue is a system that enables citizens to report city problems to and get an update on the case from the city administration via a mobile application. People can send a report of city problems - ranging from waste to potholes, broken footpath and streetlights - accompanied with photos and GPS location. The report will then be directed by the system to concerned department to fix the problems. The department in charge provides an update on the case, which can be viewed by the person who files the report.
Tourism is one of the focused industrial sectors under the Bio-Circular-Green Economic model (BCG model) that the government is promoting to attain inclusive and sustainable growth. Under BCG model, technology and innovation will be employed to develop high-quality tourism and enable income distribution and enhancement. NSTDA has been working with Krabi province on 26 projects supporting technologies and innovations to business operators in Krabi under Innovation and Technology Assistance Program (ITAP). In addition, the agency has also introduced a number of smart tourism and smart hospital innovations and solutions made by startups affiliated to NSTDA’s Business Innovation Center (BIC) to businesses in Krabi. To promote the use of technology and innovation, NSTDA established a coordinating office at Krabi City Hall to facilitate technology transfer and the matching of technologies to the requirements of local businesses.
