On 8 May 2020, NSTDA and Kasetsart University entered into agreements to facilitate collaboration on two projects, DNA Technology Laboratory and Manpower Development. Representing the two parties were Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NSTDA President and Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, Acting President of Kasetsart University.
Based at Kasetsart University-Kampaengsaen Campus, DNA Technology Laboratory provides services based on DNA fingerprinting and DNA sequencing techniques such as genetic identification and authentication, DNA marker development and GMO testing. BIOTEC will represent NSTDA in this collaboration to co-develop advanced technologies and build national capacity in DNA technology to support and strengthen Thai manufacturing and export sectors.
The collaboration on manpower development will focus on research-intensive doctoral program. With a combined investment of 40 million THB, the program will offer 30 PhD scholarships – 10 scholarships per round for 3 rounds - over a period of 5 years. In addition to the fund, the two parties will contribute their scientific infrastructure, research network – both local and international – and a wide range of expertise in order to produce highly-skilled workforce to enhance national competitiveness.
