British Council Thailand, in collaboration with local and international partners, hosted the final round of FameLab Thailand Competition 2019 on 11 May 2019 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. FameLab Thailand is part of the global FameLab, science communication training programs and competitions, organized by the British Council. Co-organizers of this edition of FameLab Thailand include Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Office of the National Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council, NSTDA, National Science Museum, THE STANDARD, Chulalongkorn University, True Corporation and EURAXESS.

In this final round, ten finalists from the national audition made a 3-minute presentation of scientific research in English, in front of judges and live audience, after which winners and runners-up were announced as follows:
• Winner of FameLab Thailand 2019: Ms. Napat Tandikul for her presentation on “MEAT the future”
• 1st Runner-up: Ms. Benyapa Wongsaravit for her presentation on “Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy CTE (Punch Drunk Syndrome)”
• 2nd Runner-up: Mr. Nawapol Chuamvarasart for his presentation on “ANDROID: Become Human”
• Winner of People’s Choice Award: Mr. Sutthichon Rattanayatikul, with his presentation on “Antimicrobial Photochemical Therapy for Dental Caries“

   

The winner of FameLab Thailand 2019 will compete against other contestants from around the world at the Cheltenham Science Festival 2019 on 5-6 June 2010 in the UK. In addition, the winner was also presented with a 20,000-baht cash prize and awarded the trip to visit leading research laboratories in Europe.
