HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of NSTDA Annual Conference 2019 (NAC2019) on 25 March 2019 at Thailand Science Park.  With the theme of “Moving Towards Thailand’s Future Economy with Science, Technology and Innovation”, NAC2019, held between 25-28 March,

is filled with exciting activities, ranging from scientific seminars in various subjects, to exhibition displaying projects and innovations from NSTDA, public and private sectors in Thailand and overseas, an open house for visitors to tour research facilities of NSTDA and companies located in Thailand Science Park and fun activities for science teachers and students.

After delivering an opening remarks, Princess Sirindhorn was given a tour to the exhibition hall where she was introduced to a number of research highlights such as food innovations, bio-based industry, advanced aquaculture system, a collaborative bioeconomy project between NSTDA and Forschungszentrum Jülich, aquaculture feed employing protein-binding hydrogel, nanovaccine for aquaculture, TPMAP (Thai People Map and Analytics Platform) and Fabrication Lab project.

On this occasion, Princess Sirindhorn visited a brand-new Plant Factory Facility, recently constructed with funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology. A plant factory is a closed facility utilizing artificial control of light, temperature, moisture, and carbon dioxide concentrations to achieve constant production and uniformity of crops. NSTDA’s Plant Factory Facility is built on 1200 sq.m. space in Innovation Cluster 2 Building and is currently used for the trial production of high-value herbal plants such as Kariyat (Andrographis paniculata (Burm.f) Wall. ex Nees) and tiger’s herb (Centella asiatica).
