NSTDA and the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (D.P.O) signed a research collaboration agreement to apply innovations in nanotechnology to create value to Thai dairy industry. The agreement was officiated on 4 October 2019 at Thailand Science Park by Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NSTDA President and Dr. Narongrit Wongsuwan, D.P.O. Director.

The D.P.O. has made a 55.9 million baht investment in establishing a demonstration farm equipped with smart farming technologies to enhance the efficiency of dairy farm management, as well as extending collaboration with public and private sector to develop novel products. The partnership with NSTDA will fittingly support these initiatives.

According to Dr. Wannee Chinsirikul, Executive Director of NANOTEC-NSTDA, the early stage of collaboration will focus on employing nano-encapsulation technology to create value to D.P.O. products such as milk powder, milk tablet, as well as developing products for niche markets such as the elderly. In addition, the two organizations plan to improve the effectiveness of cattle feed using hydrogel technology and co-develop a nanoparticle-based microbial detection device for quality control in the production process.
