On 6 November 2019, Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NSTDA President in his capacity as the member of the Governing Board attended the 2nd Governing Board Meeting of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO). ANSO was founded in 2018 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and 36 other international science and education institutions from around the world, including NSTDA with an aim to promote shared development, sustainable development and the advancement of the UN SDGs through catalyzing and implementing concrete international cooperation initiatives in Science, Technology & Innovation and Capacity Building (STIC).

The meeting was chaired by Prof. BAI Chunli, CAS President and President of ANSO Governing Board. Among the agenda discussed at the 2nd Governing Board Meeting include the review of membership applications before proposing to the ANSO General Assembly in 2020, the unveil of ANSO Strategic Plan 2020-2022, and the selection of concept proposals to be implemented as the ANSO Collaborative Research Programs and ANSO Training Programs. NSTDA President suggested to expand ANSO membership to ASEAN region, and volunteered to approach scientific organizations in ASEAN that NSTDA has been actively engaged with. He also proposed ANSO to play an active role in young talent development by collaborating with Global Young Academy and ASEAN Young Academy, the latter of which was founded by NSTDA under the auspices of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI).
