Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, in partnership with NSTDA and the Thailand Maker Community, organized “Maker Faire Bangkok 2019: WE ARE ALL MAKERS” on 19-20 January 2019 at The Street Ratchada in Bangkok. Maker Faire aimed to inspire youngsters and the general public to turn their creativity and ideas into real-life inventions and to help shape Thailand into a Maker Nation, driven by technology, creativity and innovation, to fulfill the Thailand 4.0 vision.

The fair featured demonstrations and on-stage talks, as well as inventions from local and international makers on display across 70 booths. Inventions included works of various kinds ranging from electric, electronic devices and embedded systems, to music, food, arts and crafts, all carefully curated by experts drawing from NSTDA and the maker community.

One of the highlights was an announcement of the winners of “Enjoy Science: Young Makers Contest” which was held in its 3rd consecutive year. The theme for this year’s contest was Green Innovation. There were 399 entries submitted by students throughout the country. The winning project of vocational student category was Clean Oyster from Surat Thani Technical College. Clean Oyster is an oyster cleaning machine using seawater and protein skimmer to remove mucus, secretion as well as bacteria.  The machine is equipped with water recycling system and powered by solar energy. The winner of school student category was Oil Clean-up Robot from Satree Phatthalung School. Oil Clean-up Robot is a device floating in open water with a mechanism to remove oil from water surface. Both inventions have been tested in the field and gave remarkable performance.  Winner of each category received a 500,000-baht cash prize and a trip to join Maker Faire in San Francisco, valued at 1.2 million baht in total.
