Dr. Akkharawit Kanjana-Opas, NSTDA Vice President and CEO of Food Innopolis, joined executives of partner organizations at the launch of MUSC-WTE-GERSTEL: Food Innopolis Learning Center of Flavor and Aroma on 16 November 2019. Executives from partner organizations included Assoc. Prof. Sittiwat Lertsiri, Dean of Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Mr. Sonti Dumrongsilp, Managing Director of World Tech Enterprise Limited and Ms. Tan Surakanpinit, Regional Sales Manager Southeast Asiaof GERSTEL.

Located at Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Food Innopolis Learning Center of Flavor and Aroma aims to support and enhance flavor research, addressing the need of food flavor industry in Thailand. The center is established under the collaboration of Food Innopolis, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University and World Tech Enterprise Limited – a distributor of GERSTEL, a German manufacturer of systems and solutions for chemical analysis.

Food Innopolis – a platform to promote government-academia-industry collaboration to enhance competitiveness of food industry – has been implementing Flavor Academy over the past two years to strengthen the capacity of Thai researchers and technicians in flavor science through training workshops and courses. The establishment of this center will further enhance research capacity in this field. Equipped with cutting-edge technology of GERSTEL to perform chemical analysis of flavor and aroma in food and beverage with high accuracy and a built-in database containing information of over 100,000 flavor and aroma compounds, the center offers analysis service and carry out research. Additionally, it is ready to support Thailand to become a regional training hub in flavor analysis.
