NSTDA, in collaboration with the Science Park Promotion Agency, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, organized ASEAN Science Park Management Conference 2019 on 28-30 August 2019. Held at Thailand Science Park - the first park dedicated to research and innovation in Thailand, the conference aimed at promoting sustainable growth of science parks and facilitating the networking among science parks both in Thailand and overseas to enhance their capabilities and services. The conference was attended by approximately 100 participants representing science parks, academia, enterprises, and business accelerating organizations from Thailand, ASEAN member countries and beyond.

Presided over the opening ceremony on 28 August was Prof. Yongyuth Yuthavong, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Science and Technology. In his opening remarks, Prof. Yongyuth underlined the role of science park in expediting the innovation process – from proof of concept, to prototyping, pilot production and mass production – and thereby driving the economy forward with innovative industry. He encouraged participants to form a network of science parks among ASEAN countries and expand into the development of ASEAN innovation ecosystem.

The conference also marked the launch of WBAF Thailand Country Office and the collaboration between NSTDA and the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF). WBAF Thailand Country Office aims to develop local angel investors in order to completely fulfill Thailand startup ecosystem and expand WBAF’s work in ASEAN region.
