คนส่วนใหญ่รู้ว่าพืชเจริญเติบโตได้ต้องการบริเวณที่มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของธาตุอาหารที่จำเป็นต่อพืช หากอยู่ในพื้นที่แห้งแล้งบางแห่งที่ไม่มีผู้ย่อยอินทรีย์สาร คอยทำหน้าที่หมุนเวียนสารประกอบไนโตรเจน
