เมื่อวันที่ 6 มกราคม 2014 นักอสังหาริมทรัพย์ Daniel Ludwig. ประกาศบริจาคเงินจำนวน  US$  $2.5 billion  ให้แก่สถาบันวิจัย 6 แห่ง ได้แก่
The Ludwig Centers at Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Stanford University and the University of  Chicago.
เงินบริจาคนี้จะช่วยส่งเสริมงานวิจัยด้านมะเร็ง ให้ก้าวหน้ายิ่งขึ้น
