Emerging Micropollutants in the Environment: Landscape, Technologies, and Integrated Solutions for Sustainable Management

At present, micropollutants have become a significant global environmental and public health concern. They adversely affect the quality of water, soil, and air as well as ecosystems and sustainable development. Thailand, like many countries worldwide, is facing considerable challenges in managing micropollutants effectively. Widely recognized examples include PM2.5, pharmaceutically active substances, microplastics, and various chemical contaminants (such as PFAS and PFOA). Therefore, strengthening scientific knowledge, advancing technological capabilities, and enhancing effective monitoring systems are essential steps toward developing sustainable solutions.

This seminar aims to present the current situation and emerging trends of micropollutants in different countries, along with management approaches. A case study on micropollutants in Thailand will be highlighted, focusing on the application of advance environmental quality surveillance and support evidence-based management in areas continuously affected by micropollutants. In addition, the seminar seeks to provide a platform for knowledge exchange among experts, academics, and researchers, fostering strong collaborative networks to address micropollutant challenges effectively and sustainably.
