Delegation from China’s National Railway Administration and CRRC Visits MTEC to Discuss Future Collaboration

On 9 October 2025, the Rail and Modern Transport Research Group (RMT) of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) welcomed delegates from the National Railway Administration of the People’s Republic of China, CRRC Co., Ltd., and CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. for an official visit to MTEC.

The meeting focused on proposals for future collaboration under the China–Thailand Rail Transit “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory framework.
Key discussion points included:

  • Establishing a fixed office and exhibition space for the Joint Laboratory
  • Exploring the creation of a Rail Transit Technology Innovation Alliance in Thailand
  • Strengthening cooperation on scientific research projects, hosting regular academic seminars, and conducting joint talent-training programs.

Following the meeting, the delegates visited several of MTEC’s key facilities, including:

  1. Wheel–Rail Interaction Laboratory

  2. Corrosion Technology Laboratory

  3. Laser Processing Laboratory

  4. Railway Technology Laboratory

MTEC and the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), have been working closely with CRRC Qingdao Sifang through the China–Thailand Rail Transit “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory initiative. In July 2025, the partners further expanded their collaboration, focusing on strengthening the laboratory’s presence and operational framework in Thailand, with plans for full-scale development in the medium term.
