Project Summary

This initiative focused on developing prototype negative pressure helmets as portable personal protective equipment for confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients, as well as positive pressure helmets for healthcare personnel and frontline workers. Under this project, 68 sets of positive and negative pressure helmets were produced and delivered to 3 hospitals:

  1. Bangphai Hospital: 2 negative pressure helmets

  2. Yala Hospital (Yala Province): 6 negative pressure helmets

  3. San Sai Hospital (Chiang Mai Province): 50 negative pressure helmets and 10 positive pressure helmets

During the COVID-19 pandemic, medical personnel placed high trust and confidence in utilizing these pressure-controlled helmets in healthcare facilities.

  • Negative pressure helmets were used by confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients while undergoing hemodialysis, during patient transfers, or when in shared spaces to prevent the virus from spreading outward.

  • Positive pressure helmets were worn by healthcare personnel while examining and treating COVID-19 patients.

Following the implementation of these pressure-controlled helmets in healthcare settings, COVID-19 infection rates among medical personnel showed a noticeable decline.
