Dr. Kuang-Chong Wu, President of NARLabs, blessing for the 30th anniversary of NSTDA

Greetings from NARLabs in Taipei, Taiwan.

The entire team at the National Applied Research Laboratories is so happy to hear that NSTDA is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, which is certainly a milestone to be proud of. Having given so much to Thailand’s society and scientific development, NSTDA is a role model for many national institutions in the South-east Asian region.

Therefore, NARLabs would like to extend its sincerest congratulations to NSTDA, whose talent and diligence have attracted the cooperation with many other scientific and technological institutions such as ours. During the time we have worked together, we have learned that NSTDA is a vital player in the region’s quest for excellence, and it is precisely why we hope there will be many more years of collaboration between our two institutions.

The NARLabs team wishes you all the best and we share your excitement to continue our joint research projects. May this 30th anniversary be the celebration of past achievements and the blessing of future collaborations.

Finally, NARLabs, including its Bangkok Office, is also working on several activities to support joint research program and bilateral conferences. With this NARLabs-NSTDA partnership, we expect to create more opportunities and benefits for our prospering countries.

Taiwan Data Cube workshop

The growing Earth Observation satellite data requires an open and freely accessible exploitation tool to facilitate the development and sustainability of applications on land use and land cover change, water resources and forest monitoring, etc. The Open Data Cube (ODC) is especially suitable for geospatial data management & analysis for modern Thai Agriculture, one of the focused topics under the BCG model.

Open Data Cube (ODC) was initiated by the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) to provide a solution with new computing technologies, to promote free and open EO satellite data and application algorithms, and to lower the technical barriers for users to exploit the data. Currently, based on ODC infrastructure Taiwan Data Cube (TWDC) is under developing and operating for distributing Analysis Ready Data (ARD) and delivering corresponding application for geospatial data users in Taiwan. In this workshop, not only the system framework and data preparation of ODC will be provided, the practical applications of TWDC will also be introduced. Following topics will be discussed in this workshop: (1) Overview and framework of TWDC, (2) Preparation and usage of ARD in TWDC. (3) Introduction to the applications of TWDC. Through this workshop, the valuable experience and practice of TWDC will be shared and exchanged with international participants to establish localized ODC for foreign countries and third-party international organizations. Under the collaboration with CEOS, hope that the staged achievement of TWDC can be an example in international cooperation projects of ODC.
