Infrastructure News Year 2019

NSTDA, in collaboration with the Science Park Promotion Agency, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, organized ASEAN Science Park Management Conference 2019 on 28-30 August 2019. Held at Thailand Science Park - the first park dedicated to research and innovation in Thailand, the conference aimed at promoting sustainable growth of science parks and facilitating the networking among science parks both in Thailand and overseas to enhance their capabilities and services. The conference was attended by approximately 100 participants representing science parks, academia, enterprises, and business accelerating organizations from Thailand, ASEAN member countries and beyond.

NSTDA and Mahidol University entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to develop a master plan for the development of medical device industry in the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi). The MOU was officiated by Dr. Janekrishna Kanatharana, NSTDA Executive Vice President and Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, Acting President of Mahidol University.

NSTDA and Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing (Thailand) Limited officiated the collaboration on research, development and technology transfer in support of electric vehicle (EV) and EV battery industry on 2 August 2019 at Thailand Science Park. Electrical and Electronic Products Testing Center or PTEC, a unit of NSTDA, is appointed to serve as the EV battery testing laboratory for Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing (Thailand), and to further develop the national quality infrastructure for the future of transport which includes testing facilities for batteries and autonomous vehicles, for instance. 

NSTDA recently officiated a brand-new Plant Factory Facility, aiming to employ cutting-edge technology to enhance the quality and productivity of herbal plants supplied to pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical and nutraceutical industry. NSTDA Plant Factory Facility utilizes the most advanced technologies sourced from Japan and was built with Prof. Toyoki Kozai, a world-leading expert in plant factory, on board as a project advisor.

NSTDA held a groundbreaking ceremony of Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi) at Wangchan Valley in Rayong Province on 27 February 2019. The auspicious occasion was participated by General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, Prime Minister and members of the cabinet, setting off the construction of what would be a new innovation hub of Southeast Asia.
