NSTDA, Imperial College London Sign Memorandum of Understanding

A memorandum of understanding for science and technology collaboration between NSTDA and Imperial College London was completed and signed in March. Imperial College Rector, Sir Roy Anderson signed the MOU while in Thailand as guest of honor for the opening of the NSTDA Annual Conference. H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening.

Dr. Thaweesak Koanatakool, NSTDA Vice-President, led a follow up mission in late April for a productive series of meetings with Imperial College London researchers to identify specific areas for collaboration in the general areas of renewable energy, nanotechnology, and biomaterials.

In mid-July, H.E. Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, Minister of Science and Technology and Imperial College alumna (Physics, 1970) will lead a junket to Imperial College London to further strengthen the Imperial College-NSTDA relationship.

NSTDA’s work with Imperial College London is part of a larger NSTDA initiative, UK-Thailand: Partners in Science, focused on promoting scientific and technological collaboration between the two countries and further strengthening the scientific research community in Thailand. Prof. John Beddington, Chief Scientific Advisor to the government of the UK, will formally launch UK-Thailand: Partners in Science on September 30, 2009 in Thailand.
