Thai Professional Conference 2012: Disaster Risk Management: Lessons Learned from USA, Japan and Europe

July 11, 2012

The Thai Professional Conference 2012 (TPC 2012) was co-organized by the Reverse Brain Drain Section of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), together with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC)Dr. Plodprasop Suraswadi, Minister of Science and Technology, opened and delivered a  special lecture.

The conference provides a stage for experts (Thais and non-Thais) from USA, Japan and Europe to share with the audience their natural disaster risk management experiences and lessons learned.  Cases presented include the Katrina and Missouri River Flooding in the USA, the Natural Disasters in Japan, and the Reconstruction after 2011 Tsunami in Japan.   Identification of areas of disaster risk reduction management as well as future cooperation between Thai professionals overseas and their networks of friends with local Thai professionals is fruit of this labor.
